For more than a decade and a half, the Eclipse’s success can be attributed to several factors that have remained constant throughout its run, including sleek styling, powerful engines, comfort and affordability. And For 2009, Mitsubishi Lancer Eclipse comes totally revamped with its futuristic look and feel.

Up-front, the 2009 Eclipse gets a new grille along with newly styled single colored front and rear bumper fascias. With its ‘attainable exotic’ design, the new generation Eclipse is further underscored with its ferocious shark-like looks and roar that is a true testament to the potential of this mean machine.

Under the hood, the 2009 Eclipse boosts of a 3.8-liter MIVEC V6 that delivers from 263 horsepower to 265 horses at 5750 rpm. The V6 is offered with a standard six-speed manual or an optional five-speed automatic transmission whilst the GS comes with a 162-horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine and a five-speed manual or five-speed automatic. In both engines, Mitsubishi Innovative Valve Timing Electronic Control (MIVEC) helps to optimize efficiency and power across a broad engine speed range. Both automatic transmissions feature Sportronic™ shifters to allow manual gearshift control.

With upscale styling and a modern twist, the Eclipse’s interior combines exotic- looking design with comfort and safety, that includes standard advances dual-stage front air bags, seat-mounted side airbags and front seat curtain side air bags. High-back front bucket seats feature integrated, open head restraints for a sporty look and enhanced rear visibility with the 50: 50 split- folding rear seatbacks that provide cargo versatility.

Aimed at the younger, sports car enthusiasts, Mitsubishi has made a 650-watt Rockford Fosgate audio system with 9 speakers a standard fitment on Eclipses. 

A rigid platform and 4-wheel independent suspension give the Eclipse sporty road manners and a compliant ride. For the perfect drive, all models are equipped with standard four-wheel disc anti-lock brakes (ABS) and electronic brake-force distribution (EBD); the GT features larger, ventilated rear discs and standard 18-inch alloy wheels.
